With the overflowing energy of freedom, Dinh Phong suddenly flew into painting. Upon seeing the moving colours in Dinh Phong’s paintings, it feels like he is expressing his dreams that he has suddenly forgotten, suddenly remembered during his life since birth. It came late to him. Perhaps that is also the late maturity of all artists. But some people blossom early, and ripen in the right season. For Dinh Phong it didn’t come until today.
“Like a dream rushing into the sleep –
You wake up and don’t remember a thing –
You give me a bit of love –
And then lightly the dust floats over the road –
We draw a bit of rain and sunlight in life –
And then quickly disappear like nothing.”

Dinh Phong chose Abstraction or Abstraction chose him? Only heaven knows. And yet viewers feel all too clearly this absolutely sincere passion. It is this passion that makes him unable to stop holding the brush or the trowel to release his emotions onto the canvas with those solitary coloured patches that move spontaneously, with particular shifts like those in electromagnetic waves. And a private universe, belonging to Dinh Phong alone, formed itself after an explosion of creation. Interwoven into the metaphysical rationalities inherent in the painting man is a very distinct loneliness hidden within the tremors of colours, in the corners of the blocks. There, abstraction has forgotten itself to allow creativity and to release happiness.

Suddenly we’re reminded of a verse by B. Pasternak:
And when a line is charged by senses, They send a slave on stage’s flats,
And there, an art is finished, breathless, And breathe the soil and merciless fate.
